Farmers’ Electric Cooperative is an electric distribution cooperative headquartered in Chillicothe, Missouri serving approximately 13,000 meters. Member Account Representative
POSITION SUMMARY
The Member Account Representative is responsible for delivering exceptional customer service to members and visitors of the cooperative. This role involves managing member accounts, addressing inquiries, and concerns, processing payments, and providing information regarding services and policies. The Representative also processes and accounts for all deposits and collections, as well as maintains accurate and concise records and report documents. Assists fellow Member Account Representatives when necessary.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
High School diploma or equivalent is required. Typing and general office procedures are required. Business courses and personal computer experience are desirable. In order to perform satisfactorily in the position, the average person may require at least 6 months of experience and training in order to learn the basic requirements of the position.
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Answers telephone and greets visitors courteously, takes messages, and directs calls to the proper department or handles, as appropriate.
- Investigate billing discrepancies or concerns while responding back within a timely manner and document resolution regarding members’ questions or concerns about billing or service.
- Receives cash collections. Works with members to establish acceptable payment plans for overdue accounts.
- Assist new members in meeting membership requirements of the cooperative as listed in the bylaws.
- Explains applicable rates, deposits for new accounts, and pre-paid accounts.
- Processes service connects and disconnects and prepares necessary service orders.
- Prepares accurate cash stubs and supporting tapes for data processing.
- Open and process payments in the night depository.
- Process membership, service fees, and deposits.
- Process transformer changes, meter changes, and security light connects.
- Must be able to acquire a thorough knowledge of the Cooperative's programs, rate structures, service policies, and bylaws.
- Works outages and other emergencies as needed.
- Promotes and provides information to the members of the Cooperative on all member service programs, (i.e. Round Up, rebate, surge protection, etc.), promotions, projects, goals, and activities.
- Must possess the ability to deal with upset members.
- Ability to be cross-trained within other areas of the office department.
