NATIONAL
RURAL ELECTRIC COOPERATIVE ASSOCIATION
National Rural Electric Cooperative Association
(NRECA) is the national service organization dedicated to representing the national interests of cooperative electric utilities and the consumers they serve. The NRECA Board of Directors oversees the association’s activities and consists of 47 members, one from each state in which there is an electric distribution cooperative. The chief spokesman for the nation’s electric cooperatives is NRECA Chief Executive Officer Glenn English.
Founded in 1942, NRECA was organized specifically to overcome World War II shortages of electric construction materials, to obtain insurance coverage for newly constructed rural electric cooperatives, and to mitigate wholesale power problems. Since those early days, NRECA has been an advocate for consumer-owned cooperatives on energy and operational issues as well as rural community and economic development.

| TOUCHSTONE
ENERGY Touchstone
Energy is an alliance of more than 700 electric cooperatives in 46
states that collectively deliver power and energy solutions to
more than 17 million customers every day.
Touchstone
Energy cooperatives are local, active members of their
communities, and they are dedicated to serving commercial,
industrial, agricultural and residential customers with integrity,
accountability, innovation and commitment to community.
What is Touchstone Energy?
Rural
Missouri Magazine Back Page, August, 2007, Mike Sanders, FEC
CEO In a recent survey of our membership, it
was noted that 35% of our members had heard of Touchstone Energy, and 26% knew that
Farmers' Electric is a Touchstone Energy cooperative. I was hoping that these numbers would be
higher, so I would like to take this time to give a brief
explanation of Touchstone Energy, and what it means to Farmers'
Electric. So what is Touchstone Energy? It is an alliance of more than 600 cooperatives in 45 states
that collectively deliver power and energy solutions to more than 22 million customers. These
cooperatives have joined together to create a national
"brand". Electric cooperatives operate differently than other utilities, and Touchstone
Energy helps us to communicate that message to you. The Touchstone Energy logo allows us to be
easily identified by consumers as a utility that has the same set of core beliefs and principles
as other Touchstone Energy members. Electric cooperatives are driven by their
commitment to the Seven Cooperative Principles. These principles are:1) Voluntary and Open
Membership 2) Democratic Member Control 3) Members' Economic
Participation 4) Autonomy and Independence 5) Education, Training, and
Information 6) Cooperation Among Cooperatives 7) Concern for
Community. The next time you see a Touchstone Energy ad on TV or hear a Touchstone Energy ad on
the radio, remember that Farmers' Electric is part of that group. You can also visit their website at
www.touch-stoneenergy.cooperative.com for more
information on Touchstone Energy and electric cooperatives across the nation. There is also
information on Energy Efficiency programs that will assist you in finding ways to reduce your electrical usage in your house or business.

| ASSOCIATED
ELECTRIC COOPERATIVE Associated Electric Cooperative Inc. is owned by and provides wholesale power to six regional and 51 local electric
cooperative systems in Missouri, northeast Oklahoma and southeast Iowa that serve more than
850,000 customers.
AECI's mission is to provide an economical and reliable power supply and support services to its members.
AECI is a cooperative guided by the seven cooperative principles that reflect the best interests of members:
- Voluntary and open membership
- Education, training and information
- Democratic member control
- Cooperation among cooperatives
- Members' economic participation
- Concern for community
- Autonomy and independence
Associated Electric Cooperative Inc. has a diversified mix of generation resources to supply reliable, economical electricity to member systems.
AECI's resources include baseload generation supplied by two coal-based plants producing low-cost, around-the-clock power; intermediate generation provided by three efficient, low-emissions combined-cycle natural gas plants; and four peaking plants that provide power when demand rises to peak levels on cold winter or hot summer days. AECI also has contracted power sources, including renewable hydropower and wind energy from northwest Missouri's first utility-scale wind farms, and its
"Take Control & Save" energy efficiency program that member cooperatives have implemented systemwide to help their members use energy more efficiently and save on their electric bills.
Associated's gas-based resources, constructed from 1999 to 2007, provide intermediate and peaking power that enables the cooperative to meet members' growing demand for electricity during higher-use periods.
Associated's combined-cycle units, which use heat from the exhaust of the gas turbines to produce steam for additional energy generation, are among the nation's most efficient units with very low emissions.
AECI's coal-based units are the foundation for providing low-cost energy to member systems. The
cooperative's owned and contracted coal-based resources make up about 50 percent of capacity, yet they produce about 80 percent of
Associated's energy. Associated employees continue to improve the maintenance and operation of these coal units, constructed from 1966 to 1982. These units have been generating at sustained levels since they were converted to burn low-sulfur coal in 1994.
