The footings have been poured for Chillicothe's newest spec building and soon the 50,000 square-foot structure will be erected just south of Wire Rope in the Chillicothe Industrial Park. The building is being built through a partnership among Chillicothe Development Inc., the Chillicothe Development Corporation and Farmers' Electric Development, Inc.

The building is considered a spec building because it will be marketed to businesses that are planning to expand. It will be a shell building (similar to what was used for Gear for Sports) and not built for a particularly industry, according to Terry Rumery, of Rumery & Associates which represents the city of Chillicothe for economic development.

The total cost of the building is projected to be around $750,000 and, combined with the 20 acres of land on which the structure will be built, the project's total value is estimated at $900,000. Although the building will be 50,000 square-feet, it is being designed to allow for expansion of up to 200,000 square-feet, if needed. The site also enables a company to have both rail service.
