Sanders Named Executive Vice President & CEO of FEC April 4, 2006 FOR FURTHER INFORMATION: Contact Steve Shoot “I’m very excited about the opportunity the Board of Directors at Farmers’ Electric has given me,” Sanders said. “We have a terrific group of employees at FEC and I’m looking forward to working for our member-owners in the years to come.” Sanders becomes only the fourth Chief Executive Officer in the 68-year history of Farmers’ Electric Cooperative. He replaces Dan Bryan at the helm of the cooperative, who is retiring in early June, following a 24-year tenure as the cooperative’s CEO. A native of Eaton, Ohio, Sanders is a 1981 graduate of Sterling College, Kansas, where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management and Accounting. He has 25 years of experience working in the rural electric cooperative system, including Sedgwick County Electric Cooperative, Cheney, KS; Sumner-Cowley Electric Cooperative, Wellington, KS; and Northeast Oklahoma Electric Cooperative, in Vinita. “Farmers’ Electric Cooperative has a tremendous history in assisting in the economic development of north central Missouri,” stressed Sanders. “We plan to remain active in this endeavor as we continue to strive to provide service reliability to the member-owners of the cooperative.” Sanders will become FEC’s CEO on June 1. He is a member of the Chillicothe Rotary Club and he and his wife, Rita, attend the United Methodist Church in Chillicothe. The Sanders’ will celebrate their 22nd wedding anniversary later this year. Mrs. Sanders is currently the Supervisor of English as a secondary language program in the St. Joseph School District. “We were very pleased with the quality of the applications we received,” reported FEC Board President Ron Cornett, of Pattonsburg. “We feel confident that under Mike’s leadership Farmers’ Electric will continue to be a leader in the rural electric cooperative program.” |
