FEC’s Rebate Program to Change January 1, 2010
New heat pump rebates, water heater program will be different
December, 2009

FEC’s popular rebate program will change January 1, 2010, with the primary changes being made to the heat pump and water heater programs.

The basic changes to the programs are as follows:

  • The add-on heat pump rebate will be $150 per ton. The unit must have a SEER rating of 14.5 or higher to qualify for the rebate.

  • The ground source heat pump (geothermal) rebate will be $600 per ton. Residences must have an attic insulation R-value of 45 or higher.

  • Energy Star water heaters being offered to members will cost $275, plus tax. This covers new installations, gas to electric conversions and electric to electric installations.

If a member purchases an electric water heater from another business, FEC will pay 50 percent of the cost of the unit up to $150.

FEC offers an American made water heater to its members. The 40 and 50-gallon units each retail for over $400 and easily surpass the minimum Energy Star requirements from the Department of Energy (DOE).

Farmers’ Electric will also continue to offer rebates on two Energy Star appliances. Members will receive $50 for Energy Star dishwashers and $100 for Energy Star clothes washers.

Be sure and contact your cooperative’s Member Services Department for details on how you can receive your rebate. Just call 646-4281or 1-800-279-0496, then dial 11 when the automated phone attendant answers the telephone. There are specific guidelines to follow to receive the rebates. Rebates Are Available for FEC Members

One of the benefits of being a member of a rural electric cooperative is that of receiving rebates from FEC for appliances you purchase. Rebates are available for dualfuel heat pump systems, groundsource, or geothermal heat pump systems, electric water heaters, Energy Star dishwashers and Energy Star clothes washers. A few simple guidelines apply, so give us a call before you buy.

The water heaters we offer are American-made, Bradford-White models. They have two inches of foam insulation around the tank and come with a good warranty. The rebates are offered to you, our member, to make it financially easier to enjoy the benefits of using these money saving appliances.
