Karol Colliver Retires After 38 Years at FEC
February 2010

In less than three weeks, Karol Colliver will be retiring from the cooperative. Karol, a native of Chillicothe, began working at Farmers’ Electric Cooperative October 1,1971.She started as a dispatcher, communicating work assignments to the various line crews in the Operations Department.

Since she began at FEC she has also worked in the work order department, billing and the last 10 years as a customer service representative at the front counter. “When I started here everything was done by hand,” explained Karol. “The only computer we had was used to keep a database on the members. The individual computers on your desk changed everything drastically.”

Karol graduated from Chillicothe High School in 1963. She is a past member of the Beta Sigma Phi sorority. Her hobbies include reading, baking (especially chocolate chip cookies for her brother) and cooking. Karol’s favorite authors include John Grisham, Stephen King and James Patterson. Shortly after her final days at FEC, Karol will be moving to Colorado Springs, Colorado, where she will join family members who have resided in the area for over 40 years. “Unfortunately, they are all Denver Broncos fans,” laughed Karol, who happens to be a big Kansas City Chiefs fan. “I’ll just have to do my best to get along with them.”
